New Balance's high tech tribute to early-aughts running shoes looks to the trail for inspiration on their new 2002R Steel / Lead / Orca muted color scheme. The shoes ditch their standard construction for a look inspired by hiking boots, building the sleek upper from beige mesh overlaid with tonal leather panels and taupe Toe Protect reinforcement. Grey tonal mesh on the collar offers some contrast, as does the amethyst 'N' on the sides, while more grey tonal rope laces and metal upper eyelets lean into the boot aesthetic. Tonal suede heel counter and lighter grey branding on the tongue and heel finish off the details up top, while an ABZORB SBS midsole and N-ergy outsole provide exceptional comfort, cushioning, support and shock absorption.
