The Frogskin Camouflage draws inspiration from one of the U.S. military’s earliest camouflage patterns. First issued to both the Army and Marine Corps in 1942, production had largely ceased by 1944, with surplus pieces eventually finding their way into civilian hands. Repurposed for outdoor wear and hunting apparel, the pattern became widely known as “Duck Hunter” camouflage, evolving far beyond its original military roots.

Fully reversible, these shorts from The Real McCoy’s take inspiration from the military-issued M-43 trousers, reimagined in a short silhouette. Cut from 100% cotton herringbone twill in Japan. The design features two large side cargo pockets with button closures, while omitting the original suspender buttons for a cleaner style. Economy-style buttons are used throughout, a detail commonly associated with post-war civilian adaptations of surplus military garments.
