This new line from Jelado draws inspiration from the Shibukaji (Shibuya Casual) movement in Tokyo during the late 1980s and 1990s. Born as a counterpoint to the high-fashion brand craze of the early ’80s, Shibukaji celebrated a more relaxed, effortless style favoured by students and young creatives.
The Santa Fe Vest is re-released this with updated patterns and colour-ways. Inspired by Chimayo fabrics from before the 1940s, this vest nods to the classic Chimayo style, a cornerstone of American casual wear and an emblem of Shibuya-kaji craftsmanship.
Knitted in Japan in a double jacquard technique from a blend of fine New Zealand merino wool and cotton, the vest is lightweight, soft, with a rich texture. The 50/50 wool-cotton blend uses shrink-resistant, off-scaled wool, making it gentle on the skin and fully machine washable.
Other features include a button front using leather bound buttons, two lower patch pockets and a side slit for ease of wear and finished with a woven Jelado Cowboy Brand label.
