Y'2 Leather EC-77 Eco Horse Car Coat Black

Y'2 Leather are based in Osaka, Japan, and have been in the leather jacket making game for close to fifty years. Specialising in horse, cow & deer hides, they make some exceptional jackets, all handmade in their Osaka studio.

This style from Y'2 is a faithful nod to early motoring outerwear, balancing 1930's utilitarian function with some updated details. Originally designed for open-top driving, the Car Coat offered practical protection without the bulk of a full-length overcoat.

This Car Coat from Y'2 is crafted in Japan from a uniquely tanned, horsehide, known as Eco Horse. This leather has been designed to capture the essence of original examples from the 30's. Eco Horse is tanned slowly with a rich blend of tannins and natural oils, producing a dense, tactile hide that has been shrunk approximately 20% to enhance both thickness and toughness. Originally 1.8mm thick, this Eco Horse has been thinly strained to 1.3mm, giving the the leather solid hand without feeling overly rigid.

Subtle elements borrowed from classic Riders jackets include a slanted chest pocket with Waldes ball chain zipper & two clean slash hand pockets for ease of use. A button front closure and button-adjustable cuffs maintain the traditional look, while a wool lining adds warmth and comfort for colder months.
