High-neck sweaters were worn in American football until the 1920s. By the 1930s, wool was replaced with cotton fabrics that offered greater comfort and moisture absorption, while retaining sweater-like construction. Details such as a seamless shoulder line to cuff construction, later lost in modern sweatshirts, mark this brief transitional period in sportswear history.

The Lot. 468 from Warehouse is cut in Japan from 100% cotton and features the unique seamless shoulder line through to cuff construction, as well as the High, or mock neck collar.
