Arguably the finest Americana reproduction brand from Japan, the Real McCoy's painstakingly recreate and update original garments for the modern day offering the best from the past, replicated to perfection without compromise in Japan.
The Type B-3 was officially standardised in May 1934, with its principal design borrowed from the British 'Irvin' Flying Jacket, which the RAF had put into service a few years previously. These were worn to keep USAF Aircrews warm during long haul & high altitude bombing campaigns. A true testament to the jackets design is the longevity of interest amongst collectors as well as its journey through popular culture.
The Real McCoy's Type B-3 is made under their Real McCoy MFG Co line and features a lightweight, but dense and warm sheepskin lining, wrapped in a cowhide shell accented by horsehide leather trims. Staying true to the original design, McCoy's use a DOT button type fasteners over a 40's bell type nickel plated zip front. There are belt style leather tabs at the collar and the sides of the jackets to aid fit , while a single large deep waist pocket on the right of the jacket.
