Vans turns to its own archive: The Vans Premium Authentic 44 LX *Combat* brings back the Style 44 silhouette from 1966 and pushes it into the premium segment. Style 44 was adapted by skaters in the seventies who appreciated the durability of the iconic Waffle sole – its thickness provided longevity and grip for better board control. The LX line reinterprets this classic as a handcrafted remake with archival details. The *Field Black* setup draws inspiration from combat boots: the classic silhouette nods to military boots with a black leather upper. It features a higher sidewall with a gloss finish and foxing tape, inspired by the Osnaburg of the nineties. Below, the Sola-Foam-ADC insole on a vulcanized cupsole with subtle distressing and the gum waffle outsole completes the look. Monochrome, muted, raw in detail – this colorway carries a military sobriety that shifts the skate classic into dark, autumnal tones while giving it a luxurious touch.
