New Balance continues its retro runner story with the 1954R, a completely new silhouette without a direct archive counterpart. The upper is inspired by the 2002 and 1906, featuring a hourglass-shaped midsection of pig suede, flanked by oval mesh panels, while the side N logo recalls the 1906, as does the grid-like heel cap. Underfoot sits an Abzorb unit, giving the model the comfort-oriented stature of current NB runners. This version comes in the Sea Salt colorway. The Sea Salt build is the lightest look from the debut pack, keeping the color palette calm and creamy. The construction is layered and mixed-material: wide-mesh mesh as the base, synthetic and leather mid-layers for structure, plus pig suede overlays for a premium finish. The 1954R launches in three understated colorways, opting for a clean, wearable start rather than a loud palette. Y2K tech runner DNA, distilled to the essentials.
